The concept of the scattering and gathering is interesting to me. I’ve been somewhat nomadic for the past 15 years, living in about a dozen different places and environments. The idea of being gathered with other saints into a land of inheritance is appealing.
We just recently moved from Taylorsville to Eagle Mountain, and it feels somewhat like a gathering. Eagle Mountain is a nested little community on the west side of the valley. Most of my neighbors are friendly saints. It feels good to be here. Perhaps the gathering of Israel into the lands of inheritance has a somewhat similar effect — it provides a feeling of comfort, safety, peace, and brotherhood with other saints. To be gathered into one — both spiritually and physically — is a huge blessing.

I liked the point that was made in Sunday School this last week that scattering happens because of unbelief and that gathering happens by bringing us to a knowledge of Christ and the everlasting covenant. That certainly seems part of the spiritual gathering.
