About Read Scriptures Together
Read Scriptures Together is collaborative scripture reading site based on the idea that reading and commenting together makes scripture reading more personally engaging.
The scriptures referred to include those of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, namely, the Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon, and Doctrine and Covenants. Currently, only the Book of Mormon links have been added to the site.
The chapters are merely links that point to the Church scriptures online. This allows you to take advantage of linked cross-references, footnotes, and other resources available in the official online scriptures.
Disclaimer: This Isn’t an Official Church Site
This site is not endorsed, affiliated, or sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I’m merely an active Church member in a ward in Eagle Mountain, Utah. I created the site because I think it’s a good idea – helpful to bloggers like me who find the format of social media alluring. The opinions expressed on this site reflect those who make them, and are not official Church commentary of any kind.
Who Can Participate
Anyone who wants to participate can freely do so. The site is open to anyone, but it is not a forum for anti-Mormons to express criticism of the Church. Read Scriptures Together is intended for faithful Latter-day Saints or others who are earnestly seeking to gain a better understanding of the scriptures.
What Should You Say
Commenting on the scriptures is not required of any site participant. However, I find that commenting on what I read helps me better search the scriptures for value and application to my life. Knowing that I need to comment on each chapter makes me think more deeply about what I read.
I’m a firm believer that everyone has a worthwhile perspective to add. Whether a specific verse resonates with a situation in your life, or whether you have some interesting thoughts about a person or event or other detail – it’s all valuable commentary that may enrich others’ understanding.
